Character figurine makers Max Factory Co. and Good Smile Co. shared a booth titled “Wonderful Hobby Life for You!! 14” at the 2011 summer edition of the twice-yearly show at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture.

The Wonder Festival, which took place July 24, is the nation’s largest event dedicated to garage-kit models. This summer, the event filled eight halls at the convention center.

Custom-made models and figures were on show and for sale, and the convention also featured the latest hobby products and information, along with stage performances and other events.

The two companies’ joint exhibition booth added extra excitement for anime fans, especially for people looking for merchandise related to “Puella Magi Madoka Magica,” an explosively popular animated TV series.

Good Smile offered for sale its figure of Madoka Kaname, one of the main characters from the anime, in a school uniform. A figure of cat-like character Kyubey also received much attention.

From Max Factory, a Roger Smith figure from the animated TV series “The Big O” was for sale, as well as an action figure based on Aigis from “The Idolmaster” videogame.

Pumping up the excitement were special guest appearances. Eight stage events featured cast and production staff from animated series such as “Puella Magi Madoka Magica,” “Black Rock Shooter,” “Fate/Zero” and “Dog Days,” while artists including JAM Project were also on hand.

Max Factory President Max Watanabe and Good Smile President Takanori Aki also made appearances.

The stage events were streamed live online at Nico Nico Live website. Short videoclips are currently available for viewing on the Nico Nico Douga video-sharing website.
