“Last Exile–Ginyoku no Famu” (Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing), a sequel to the “Last Exile” animated TV series that aired in 2003, will be broadcast starting in October, the anime’s official website reported.
To heighten the excitement, a two-night special screening of all 26 episodes from the first series will be held Aug. 19-20 at Brillia Short Shorts Theater in Yokohama. Fans can enjoy the fantastic aerial battles and other highlights of the anime on the big screen.
Junko Noda, who voiced the role of Dio in the first series, will join a discussion at the theater.
In addition, all those who attend the screenings will receive an exclusive souvenir, while a special menu inspired by the anime will be offered at a cafe in the theater building.
Tickets are 7,000 yen ($86.50) per night, including tax, and will be sold at the theater box office and the anime website starting from noon on July 9.
News of the new series has sparked worldwide interest among Last Exile’s loyal fan base, proving the series’ international popularity.
The first episode in the new series premiered at the Anime Expo 2011 in Los Angeles, which was held from July 1-4.
In addition, FUNimation Productions Ltd., the largest Japanese anime company in North America, announced it has acquired the rights to the second series.
The all-night events in Yokohama will be held just ahead of the releases of the first “Last Exile” series on both Blu-ray and DVD boxed sets, which will be out on Sept. 21. It will be the first time for the title to be released in a Blu-ray box set.
The Blu-ray edition will cost 36,800 yen, including tax, and the DVD version is 26,800 yen. Here is a great chance to review the first series before the new series starts from October.
