A fashion event aimed at female fans of the “Evangelion” anime franchise will be held at the Marui One department store from July 8-28 in Tokyo’s Shinjuku Ward.
Promoted with the tagline “a celebration for girls and women who love Evangelion,” the event will feature women’s fashion items–and some men’s–made in collaboration with the popular anime.
Officially titled “Evangelion with Endless Summer Girls,” the event offers tips on styling with Evangelion-themed outfits.
In the series, the protagonists are portrayed living in a city that is summertime year-round.
Available are versions of items introduced in “Endless Summer Girls,” an article currently running in Kadokawa Group Publishing Co.’s monthly Newtype magazine in collaboration with Evangelion-related website Radio Eva.
T-shirts, pouches, bags, rings, pendants and other items will be on sale.
With the help of the publisher, there will also be a section where photos from the “Endless Summer Girls” article featuring models Chiaki Kyan, Yuki Mogami and Ayako Kimura dressed in Evangelion-themed items.
Particularly worthy of mention is the release of a “yukata” summer kimono and a Japanese towel created in collaboration with fashion brand Rumi Rock. The patterns of the traditional garments feature themes from the new feature film adaptation of “Evangelion.”
The yukata and the towel will be available June 23.
The event will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sundays and holidays.
