TMS updates streaming site, adds iPhone, iPad apps

Translated by The Asahi Shimbun from the website of Anime Anime Japan Ltd.

Anime studio TMS Entertainment Ltd. has updated its “Movie Square” video streaming website, making it even easier to enjoy its classic and modern anime titles.

It also offers 2,711 episodes from 70 anime titles produced by TMS for download to iPhone and iPad, the company added.

In recent years, TMS has launched new businesses for Internet and mobile streaming services. The studio was among the first to introduce a fee-based video streaming service for viewing its anime titles on smartphones.

The titles include classic TV cartoon series such as “Lupin the 3rd,” “The Star of the Giants” and “Ashitano Joe 2” (Tomorrow’s Joe 2). More recent titles include “Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas.”

TMS said it will keep adding more titles. The “Movie Square” website makes it easy to enjoy the studio’s anime.

The website has also undergone a major facelift since it was launched as “Tokyo Movie Online” in 2005.

Incorporating Microsoft’s Silverlight technology for video streaming, anime titles are now viewable not only on Internet Explorer on Windows PCs, but also on Safari for the Mac OS X, as well as the Google Chrome and Firefox web browsers.

In addition, the user interface has been overhauled to include reviewing and rating functions to make the website more user friendly and interactive.
