Toei V-Cinema ‘Goseiger’ episode due out on DVD in June

Translated by The Asahi Shimbun from the website of Anime Anime Japan Ltd.

Although the “Tensou Sentai Goseiger” TV series wrapped up its yearlong run on Feb. 6, the superhero squad will be back in June.

The new episode, “Kaettekita Tensou Sentai Goseiger: Last Epic” (Tensou Sentai Goseiger returns: Last epic), will be released on DVD by the Toei V-Cinema direct-to-video label, Toei Co. said.

The DVD will be available at rental outlets June 10 and for sale June 21.

Two editions will be released, a special edition priced at 6,300 yen ($75) including tax, and a regular version for 4,725 yen.

The special edition will include bonus footage, in addition to a 90-page special booklet supervised by Shogakukan Inc. that features detailed information on the superhero team.

“Tensou Sentai Goseiger,” the 34th installment of a long-running live-action series, began airing in February 2010.

The story follows a group of five youths leading double lives as the “Gosei tenshi” (Gosei angels). Their mission is to protect the Earth from the evil deeds of various space monsters.

In the final episode of the TV series, the angels waged a fierce battle against their archenemy, Brajira.

The DVD will feature an entirely new episode in the Goseigers’ lives that takes place after the TV finale. The episode includes an exciting showdown against their last and the strongest foe.

The superhero squad remains the focus of popular attention after last summer’s release of the 3-D “Tensou Sentai Goseiger: Epic on the Movie.”

On Jan. 22, “Goseiger vs. Shinkenger: Epic on Ginmaku” began showing in cinemas nationwide.

Next up is “Gokaiger Goseiger: Super Sentai 199 Hero Daikessen” (Great battles of 199 heroes), which will hit theaters in May. The movie celebrates both the 35th installment of the “Super Sentai” series and Toei’s 60th anniversary. It will feature all members of the 35 “Super Sentai” superhero squads.

The V-Cinema version is certain to excite fans and increase their expectations for the series.
