Fifteen years ago, the first of a long series of animated feature films based on the “Detective Conan” TV and manga series came out. To mark that anniversary, the latest movie, “Meitantei Conan: Chinmoku no Quarter” (Detective Conan: Quarter of Silence), hits cinemas nationwide on April 16.
The movie plot revolves around a suspected connection between a recent subway tunnel explosion in Tokyo and an “accident” in Niigata Prefecture eight years ago.
Boy detective Conan uses his deductive powers to foil the culprit’s attempt at another attack.
To celebrate the movie’s release, an online vote for the most popular character in the cast is being held online at the movie’s official website. Fans can cast ballots for their favorite characters, and can choose up to three characters including the principal ones.
The voting closes on March 31. The final results will be announced in the April 13 issue of the weekly Shonen Sunday comic magazine and on the movie’s website.
Voters have a chance to win a rare prize. Gosho Aoyama, author of the original “Conan” manga series, will draw an illustration of the winner’s favorite character. The lucky winner will be chosen by lottery from all votes received.
