The “Tenipuri Festa 2011,” a live-action festival dedicated to “The Prince of Tennis” anime franchise, will be out on DVD in May.

Featuring three performances over Jan. 22 and 23 at the Nippon Budokan hall in Tokyo, the event was a resounding success.

It was the first of several new projects marking the anime’s 10th anniversary this year.
Both the special limited edition DVD, priced at 10,290 yen ($125) including tax, and the regular edition, 7,140 yen, will be released from Bandai Visual Co. on May 27.

Each version will contain all three live performances from the two days under the themes of “Shin” (Heart), “Gi” (Skill) and “Tai” (Body).

The special edition includes a main DVD, which has footage of the entire 5-hour event, and a bonus disk.

The bonus disk includes extra footage of rehearsals and backstage antics by the cast members, giving fans a rare peek inside what went on backstage at the event.

The special edition package will also contain a booklet featuring comments from all the cast members and photos of the festival, as well as a small storage box imprinted with an illustration from the anime.
