All-girl pop quartet Scandal took the stage at Anime Festival Asia (AFAX) on Nov. 14, throwing fans into a frenzy.
AFAX is the largest Japanese anime event in Singapore. This year held Nov. 13-14, the event featured anime-related booths, cosplay events and other attractions.
The highlight was a series of concerts by Japanese anime song artists, Scandal among them.
About 3,000 fans from around the region packed the venue hoping to get a glimpse of the group from Japan. Although it was Scandal’s first live performance in Singapore, the one-hour show was a resounding success.
Scandal’s most famous song is “Shojo S,” the opening theme for the “Bleach” anime series. They also sing the ending theme “Shunkan Sentimental” for the “Fullmetal Alchemist” anime TV series.
With both series popular outside Japan, Scandal and their songs are widely known.
The audience not only greeted the band with wild cheers, they also sang along with some of the songs in Japanese.
The performance follows the success of the band’s first show outside Japan, in August in Hong Kong, and proved the quartet is much loved overseas.
As the year-end approaches, Scandal’s momentum continues. On Nov. 17, the group released a mini album, a collection of cover songs titled “R-GIRL’s ROCK!” It includes classic hits such as “Roppongi Shinju,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Widow” and “Koibito ga Santa Claus.”
Scandal seems to be on the fast track to success in 2011 and beyond. See (http://www.scandal-4.com/)
