Comic Zenon now an e-magazine, too

Monthly Comic Zenon magazine, which was launched on Oct. 25, is now available online.

EBookJapan, the nation’s largest online e-bookstore, started selling the e-magazine version Oct. 29.

The move came after eBook Initiative Japan Co., the operator of eBookJapan, and North Stars Pictures Inc. struck a deal to publish the e-version in a pioneering attempt to publish a comic magazine in both paper-based and e-magazine formats.

Nobuhiko Horie, former editor-in-chief of weekly comic magazine Shonen Jump, aims to publish a manga magazine that meets the needs of today’s manga fans. Horie was also behind the founding of weekly Comic Bunch magazine.

Comic Zenon is also noted for its talented lineup of manga artists.

Veteran artist Tetsuo Hara has produced his first new series in 10 years. “Ikusa no ko: Oda Saburo Nobunaga Den” (Child of war: The chronicle of Oda Saburo Nobunaga) is a historical epic loosely based on the life of feudal warlord Oda Nobunaga (1534-1582).

Tsukasa Hojo, who gained fame with his “Cat’s Eye,” pens “Angel Heart: 2nd Season.”

A remake of “Cat’s Eye” is also serialized under the same title in the magazine.

Comic Zenon is published on the 25th of each month, with the e-magazine released about a week later.

The e-magazine includes all titles in the paper version. This is also true for the 597-page first issue.

It is available for both Windows and Macintosh platforms, in addition to iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Android and Windows Phone mobile devices.

The first issue costs 525 yen ($6.50), including tax.

Comic Zenon aims to become a comic magazine like no other, and the e-magazine reflects the publisher’s determination to take on all challenges.
