The computer graphics conference SIGGRAPH Asia 2012 will be held between Nov. 28 and Dec. 1 next year at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Center.
The event will be chaired by Susanto Rahardja, a professor of electrical engineering at Singapore’s Institute for Infocomm Research.
The conference will highlight achievements in animation, art and technology using computer graphics and interactive digital media.
CG professionals from 50 countries and regions are expected to attend the event, the event’s organizer, ACM SIGGRAPH, said.
SIGGRAPH was launched to serve as a forum for academic research in computer graphics. It North American event, held each summer, has grown into the world’s largest conference on computer graphics, covering academic, technological, business and artistic aspects of the computer graphic industry.
The Asian arm of the SIGGRAPH was launched in Singapore in 2008 to tap the surge of computer graphics activity in the region. The annual event is held in or around December, and returns to its birthplace next year after being hosted in Yokohama, Seoul and Hong Kong.The SIGGRAPH Asia 2011 event will be held from Dec. 12 through 15 in Hong Kong.
The Singaporean government has been strengthening its support for media-related businesses and is keen to attract international events and foreign companies working in the area.
