Translated by The Asahi Shimbun from the website of Anime Anime Japan Ltd.

An exhibition of original illustrations that form the basis of the hit anime series “Evangelion” is being held in Tokyo’s Akihabara district.

This is to mark the publication of the second part of a two-volume collection of artworks from the animated feature “Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance.”

The much-anticipated art book, titled “Groundwork of Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance #02,” features original illustrations used in the second half of the animated feature.

The A-4 sized, 384-page book containing 16 color pages was produced by Khara Inc., an anime company responsible for the production of the animated film series. Priced at 3,675 yen ($48.50), including tax, the book is distributed through the Evangelion Store website.

The special exhibition is being held until Nov. 13 at two locations in Akihabara: the Yurindo bookstore at the Yodobashi-Akiba building and @Akiba Info., an official shop of the Tokyo Anime Center located on the second floor of the Akihabara UDX building.

The exhibition displays copies of original illustrations from the animated feature and sketches crucial for the animation production process.

It is also intended to promote the charms of the movie, animation production and the work of animators.

Original items from the Evangelion Store online shop will be sold at each venue. Purchasers of items will be given special free handouts related to the picture book.
