“Sengoku Basara” music player app now available in nine countries and regions

Translated by The Asahi Shimbun from the website of Anime Anime Japan Ltd.

An iPhone/iPod Touch music player app, known as “Character Music Player,” or “CharacterPlayer” (TM) for short, featuring the popular “Sengoku Basara” anime series was released on Oct. 6, its developer Production I.G Inc. said.

In addition to Japan, the app is available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to reach out to fans of the anime across the globe, the anime studio said.

The app, which plays songs and tunes stored in the music library of the iPhone and iPad devices, comes with cool skins featuring characters from the samurai anime series.

The app follows the success of its predecessor, the “Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Section 9” app, which was released in January this year.

The latest Sengoku Basara-themed CharacterPlayer app can be obtained for free. The screenshots can be chosen from three illustrations used for the posters of the anime franchise.

Additional three sets of 10 skins featuring feudal warlords Date Masamune, Sanada Yukimura and Maeda Keiji are available for $0.99 each set.

Production I.G intends to continue developing more CharacterPlayer apps using its own anime titles.

The CharacterPlayer operation is part of the company’s concerted efforts to bolster its digital content businesses.

The leading anime studio is also developing a social networking game based on vampire anime “Blood+” and other digital content for smartphones and other mobile devices.
