Girl group’s song picked as ‘Bleach’ theme

Translated by The Asahi Shimbun from the website of Anime Anime Japan Ltd.

A single from the all-girl pop quartet Scandal has been chosen as the opening theme tune for the latest series of the popular anime “Bleach,” according to the band’s website.

The song, an up-tempo rock number called “Harukaze,” is the second Scandal tune to be picked as an opening theme for the anime, after their 2009 single “Shojo S” (Girl S). The new series of “Bleach,” which follows the adventures of boy who can see ghosts, started on Oct. 11.

The leader of the band, Haruna, said she was excited that their song had been chosen again.

Scandal’s third album, “Baby Action,” came out on Aug. 10, claiming fourth spot on the Oricon weekly albums chart. It was the third Scandal album in a row to climb to the top five.

Due to strong demand for tickets, the quartet have added a gig at the Shibuya C.C. Lemon Hall in Tokyo to their nationwide fall concert tour. The band played to good houses in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore during their recent 10-day Asian tour, following up on previous visits to Singapore and Hong Kong.
