Gundam Jabro board game re-released

A special 30th-anniversary edition of the strategy board game “Mobile Suit Gundam Jabro” has been released by Bandai Co.

The “Jabro” board game was first sold in 1981 by Tsukuda Hobby, the forerunner of MegaHouse Corp., which later merged with Bandai. It rode the wave of popularity for the “Mobile Suit Gundam” anime series in the early 1980s, but was aimed at an older audience. It proved very successful and was followed by sequels.

The first three games–“Jabro,” “Fortress” and “New Type”–collectively referred to as the “early trilogy,” are highly regarded.

The game focuses on the “Battle of Jabro,” a fictional struggle for an underground military base featured in the anime. The gameplay occurs on a gridded map and players use dice, charts and data tables to simulate battles.

The game, a faithful reproduction of the original, is now available at Premium Bandai website at (
