Second of two-volume “Evangelion” illustration collection due out in October

The second of a two-volume collection of original illustrations from animated feature “Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance” will be out in October.

Titled “Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance,” the book is published by Khara Inc. and sold by Groundworks.

As with the first volume that came out in May, it follows the re-release of “Groundwork of Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone.”

The second volume also marks the eighth installment in the “Groundwork of Evangelion” illustration series by Khara.

The illustrations are from key frames used for the animated feature. Key frames are prepared at the early stage of the production process. They define pivotal points of motion of characters, the crucial aspect in animation.

The illustration series are intended to convey the passion and enthusiasm of animators who worked on key frames. The series also offers fans a chance to deepen their understanding on the animated feature.

The second volume includes illustrations for key frames used in the second half of the “Evangelion: 2.0.” A must-buy for fans of the anime series, the book shows the skills and crafts of the animators who worked on the climactic scenes in the movie.

The A-4 sized, 384-page book also contains 16 color pages, and is priced at 3,675 yen ($48), including tax.
