‘Welcome to the Space Show’ featured at Sydney Film Festival

Translated by The Asahi Shimbun from the website of Anime Anime Japan Ltd.

Four years after he directed the animated TV series “Kamichu!” film director Koji Masunari has created his first theatrical feature film, “Uchu sho e Yokoso” (Welcome to the Space Show), to be released in Japan on June 26.

Prior to its release, the film will be screened officially at the 2010 Sydney Film Festival on June 6 and June 13, the company announced.

In its 57th year, the Sydney Film Festival is one of the world’s longest running film festivals. The festival focuses more on introducing quality films than the competition aspect. Participating films are selected in genres such as feature-length live action films, animation films, documentaries and short films.

In February, “Welcome to the Space Show” was selected for the Generation section of the Berlin International Film Festival, one of the world’s three major film festivals.

As the film’s release date draws closer, a new key visual has been presented on the website.

In the visual, the main characters float in space with a jungle gym, revealing the fact that it is an adventure story set in outer space.

In addition, the site features official comments on the film’s appeal by six voice actors who bring the five children and the alien Pochi to life.
